NOBU HOTEL
LOS CABOS

Indisputably one of the most stylish resorts in Baja California, the latest addition to the Nobu Hotels opened in November of 2019 and is the first property in Mexico from the rapidly expanding dining and hospitality empire helmed by Japanese chef Nobu Matsuhisa, Academy Award-winning actor Robert DeNiro and Hollywood producer Meir Teper.

Sitting atop a wide-open beach overlooking the Pacific Ocean from the southernmost tip of the Baja Peninsula, the Nobu Los Cabos is located about seven miles west of the famous El Arco landmark, within the Diamante development, a gated community of luxury homes surrounded by two golf courses and is one of the only two resorts on the 1.5-mile coastline. The region’s remote location provides a real sense of tranquility and serenity.
The luxury resort is the vision of lead architects, Monica Cuervo and Mark Yoshizaki of WATG coming to life. With design nothing short of divine, each of the 200 guest rooms and suites have ocean and resort views and the interiors, public spaces and restaurants handled by Severine Tatangelo of Studio PCH, manage to seamlessly blend contemporary Japanese minimalism with locally-sourced natural, Mexican materials and finishes. Drawing design inspiration from the sophisticated palette that alludes to the Japanese aesthetic of the Nobu brand, as well as the unique elements of Cabo San Lucas, Nobu Hotel Los Cabos is the perfect fusion of architectural elegance and laid-back luxury, bringing together the Japanese concept of harmony and the white sandy beaches and cacti of Cabo San Lucas.

THE HOTEL

Although the hotel's accommodations comprise 103 suites and 97 standard rooms, careful planning has prevented it from feeling like one of these mega resorts.
Upon arrival, sleek minimalist lines frame the Zen-inspired entrance and open to a stunning ocean view. While the ocean in front of the hotel isn't safe for swimming, there are four pool areas that guests can choose from : The Cortez pool has the most energetic atmosphere, with open cabanas, submerged lounge chairs and an easy access to the Playabar ; the Pacific pool offers more privacy, with many smaller pools shrouded in green foliage and enclosed cabanas ; the Cortez Swim-up bar pool and the infinity pool in front of the Nobu restaurant. Certain categories of rooms and suites offer private plunge pools.

The hotel’s tranquil design extends into the guest rooms, where Japanese minimalism is paired with locally-sourced wooden accents and Mexican art.
The laid-back Cabo sense of style comes through in the use of color, textures, and geometric design elements. The Japanese influence is seen in the use of wood joinery techniques to create the Onsen-style soaking tubs that add a spa-like quality to the bathrooms; the table lights meant to resemble Japanese lanterns; the shoji screen-inspired closet doors and the furnished balconies.

THE DINING EXPERIENCE

No detail is overlooked when it comes to the food, which isn't a surprise considering Matsuhisa is at the helm. Restaurants and bars are spread all over the resort.

The signature Nobu Restaurant, with a 180º sunset view of the ocean, serves regionally-influenced specialty dishes alongside Chef Nobu Matsuhisa’s classics, with both indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a bar and a 10-person dining room for private events.

While the Nobu restaurant is the crown jewel of the resort, Japanese food is certainly not the only option here. For a more traditional option there is Pacific Restaurant, a fine dining Mexican concept, a Nobu Café lobby bar the Playabar, both offering light bites and craft cocktails, and Mexico’s only outpost of the highly popular Los Angeles restaurant, Malibu Farm, with fresh, organic, and sustainably-sourced farm-to-table cuisine.
